ingredients

For the Donuts

  • 1/2 cup + 1/8 cup vanilla almond milk (or other plant-based milk)

  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

  • 2 tablespoons melted plant butter

  • 1 cup gluten-free flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1/4 cup monk fruit sweetener

  • 1 teaspoon plant-based protein powder

  • 1 tablespoon Joya Calm Superblend (or cacao powder)

  • Pinch of salt

For the Icing

  • 2 tablespoons powdered monk fruit sweetener or alternative sugar

  • 1/2 teaspoon Joya Calm Superblend (or cacao powder)

Optional

  • Activated charcoal sea salt for topping

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a donut pan.

  2. In a medium-sized bowl, combine the vanilla almond milk, melted plant butter, and pure vanilla extract.

  3. Add the gluten-free flour, baking powder, baking soda, monk fruit sweetener, plant-based protein powder, Joya Bliss elixir (or cacao powder), and a pinch of salt. Fold the ingredients together until well combined.

  4. Transfer the donut batter into a piping bag or simply spoon it into the prepared donut pan, filling each mold about 2/3 full.

  5. Bake the donuts in the preheated oven for approximately 13 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a donut comes out clean.

  6. Once baked, remove the donuts from the oven and allow them to cool for a few minutes in the pan. Then, carefully remove them from the pan and transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

  7. In a small bowl, prepare the icing by combining the powdered monk fruit sweetener (or alternative sugar) with the Joya Bliss elixir (or cacao powder). Stir until well mixed and smooth.

  8. Once the donuts have cooled, drizzle the icing over the top of each donut. Optionally, sprinkle some activated charcoal sea salt on top for added flavor and presentation.

  9. Allow the icing to set before serving the protein donuts. Enjoy them as a delicious and nutritious treat!

Note: You can store the donuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
