air fried tofu with brown rice and green onion

ingredients

  • 1 block of extra firm tofu

  • 1 block of extra firm tofu

  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

  • Olive or Coconut oil (for air frying)

DIRECTIONs

  1. Press the tofu to remove excess water by wrapping it in paper towels or a clean kitchen towel and placing it under a heavy object, such as a cast iron skillet, for at least 15 minutes. This step helps the tofu become crispy when air fried.

  2. Cut the pressed tofu into cubes or strips, depending on your preference.

  3. In a small bowl, combine the cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.

  4. Toss the tofu in the spice mixture until evenly coated.

  5. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).

  6. Lightly spray or brush the air fryer basket with oil to prevent sticking.

  7. Arrange the seasoned tofu in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure not to overcrowd it. You may need to cook in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.

  8. Air fry the tofu for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket every 5 minutes to ensure even cooking. The tofu should become golden brown and crispy.

  9. Once the tofu is crispy and golden, remove it from the air fryer and let it cool for a few minutes.

  10. Serve the hot and crispy air-fried tofu with your favorite dipping sauce or incorporate it into various dishes like salads, rice bowls, or sandwiches.

Note: Feel free to adjust the spices and seasonings according to your taste preferences.
